M ahindra & Mahindra Ltd. began manufacturing tractors through a joint-venture with International Harvester in 1963. Mahindra's U.S. tractor division was estab- lished in 1977 as a full research, development and production unit. Mahindra North America (MNA) is part of Mahindra Group's Automotive and Farm Sector — one of the leading tractor companies in the world, based on volumes, and the only tractor manu- facturer in the world to win the industry's top two quality awards — the Deming Applica- tion Prize and the Japan Quality Medal, care of Union of Japanese Scientists and Engineers. Houston, Texas-based MNA is a wholly owned subsidiary of Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. that began selling tractors in the United States in 1994 and introduced a line of utility vehicles in 2015. MNA has eight facilities assembling, distributing and manufacturing trac- tors and utility vehicles in North America. Mahindra invested $30 million to develop the exclusive mCRD engine to meet Tier 4 Final emissions guidelines. mCRD technology is a low maintenance solution that does not require the use of a diesel particulate filter (DPF) nor operator-downtime for regeneration while providing peak performance and fuel savings. Mahindra's professional-grade tractors range from 20 to 125 hp with more than 50 mod- el offerings — and include the Max and eMax Series compact tractors. Mahindra Max 24 leads the way in the sub-compact market, says the company, and features true tractor performance and capabilities. The series includes the industry's first mid-compact tractor, the Mahindra Max 26 XL, which has compact tractor performance and versatility in a near compact tractor size. All Mahindra tractors are built with heavy-duty components providing outstanding per- formance in their class and creating more built-in weight for greater stability. Combine the performance of a Mahindra and its standard seven-year limited powertrain warranty — on sub, mid- and compact models — and you have a rugged workhorse at your disposal. Mahindra North America Tough Tractors for a Variety of Tasks Advice to Buyers "Diesel engine EPA emissions rules have changed in the past few years. As of 2013, all tractors under 75 hp must meet Tier 4 Final emissions regu- lations. These regula- tions reduce the par- ticulate matter going into the environment by 95 percent, so your new tractor will not be emitting black smoke," says Gita Rao, director, product development, Mahindra North Amer- ica. "Mahindra took a unique approach to the challenge and re-built the engine to meet the emissions require- ments. This resulted in a tractor that makes it easier for the owner to operate and main- tain by eliminating the maintenance on the DPF and the safety haz- ard of regeneration at temperatures of 1,100 degrees." 84 Compact Equipment JULY/AUGUST 2018 T R A C T O R S Model Engine Horsepower Net HP PTO Horsepower Bucket Breakout Force Max.
